HardTape steel wire woven fabrics for road reinforcement

Introduction

Made according to Chinese Patent No.ZL2018 1137 4053.4， Steel wire HardTape is a woven steel cord fabric that has been designed to reinforce road engineering projects. Its structure consists of longitudinal steel cords that are woven together with transversal steel cords forming a high tensile strength, impact and cut resistant steel wire industrial fabrics.

HardTape uses, in the longitudinal direction, brass-coated high tensile steel cords  as warp for road purpose reinforcement,or other heavy-duty applications. In the transversal direction, high-tensile steel cords as weft offer trough ability and high-rigidity steel cords offer lateral stability.these two directions steel cord are woven into high-tensile,high-rigidity steel wire tape or fabrics as reinforcement for road,railway basement,water bank,bridge surface,etc.,different civil engineerings.

 Thanks to HardTape 's special weaving technique and unique transversal reinforcement,this makes road highly resistant to different damages from traffic load-bearing,climate change,etc.

Neither warp nor weft direction steel cords are in any way deformed, but both lay perfectly straight all over the road length during weaving process and road pavement,all life long.

The use of high tensile,high elongation steel cords in transversal direction leads to:

• Better traffic-load bearing change resistance of the road
• Absorption of traffic load-bearing impact forces
• Troughing flexibility of the road-bearing
• The steel weft cords are also protecting the warp steel cords underneath

For road working in extremely severe conditions with regards to ripping and tearing, the transverse strength can be increased by:

• Applying a higher weft side steel cord density, up to 200 weft side steel cords/m
• Applying thicker and stronger weft side steel cords
• Combining stronger weft cords with higher density

Increased strain on our roads. Our highways are experiencing unprecedented pressures; increased usage and reducing maintenance budgets.

Simple resurfacing is only a temporary fix. When flexible asphalt pavements are exposed to repeated cyclical loads, rutting, pothole formation and fatigue cracking can occur. With increasing vehicle use and axle loads, this problem may also get worse. Simply resurfacing a problem pavement will only temporarily improve the situation as cracks from the underlying layers soon propagate into the new overlay, causing premature aging. This reflective cracking can also be a problem when asphalt overlays are placed on existing concrete pavements.

Reducing the whole life cost through effective reinforcement.

The reinforcement of asphalt pavements can produce a threefold increase in the service life of highway pavements by reducing fatigue, reflective, thermal and settlement cracking. With increased fatigue life and extended maintenance intervals, the “whole life cost” of a reinforced pavement is less than an unreinforced one.

Reinforcement reduces road stress. Stress concentrations in the asphalt matrix are relieved and redistributed by the reinforcement, resulting in:

• – Delayed initiation of cracks, slower crack growth
• – Narrower crack width
• – Wider spacing between cracks
• – Deviation of cracks.

Instruction for use

• -work according to design papers, rules ,regulations and site envionment
• -according to design papers,thickness of cementing materials or surface materials over the steel cord HardTape is recommended no less than 50mm;
• -The longitudinal lap length of HardTape is not less than 500 mm, and the transverse lap is not less than 100 mm
• -the HardTape must be cold cut,not be cut by grinding wheels or metal disc cutting wheels which  cause steel cord annealing.
